Savvy hotels will grab their share of the 'Tweet' pie
Aug 9, 2009

This form of ‘micro-blogging’ is the future, said RWN Trading marketing director Carol Prince.

“Hotels failing to communicate via the internet will be at a disadvantage,” she added.

The company is encouraging GMs and F&B managers to “think digital” to get their message across. The Virtual Concierge IPTV system is a Windows-based, interactive communication tool designed to not only entertain and enhance service, but to boost revenue.

“IPTV allows guests to access the internet so they can send emails or log onto Twitter or Facebook for example. If the hotel has its own Twitter account, guests can choose to contact the concierge through that medium. It’s not just movies and games, hotels should look at IPTV as a revenue generator not a cost,” said Prince.

“Tweet for repeat business” she added, explaining that the most important role of a hotel, especially a serviced residence, is to provide guests with a “home from a home”.
